Pharma Companies Share InformationHaarlem (13 May 2008) Most pharmaceutical companies are actively sharing information on their efforts to increase access to drugs with researchers of the Access to Medicine Index. According to Veronique Menou, lead analyst at Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, “even companies that first remained on the sidelines, now show a clear willingness to share information with us”. To establish companies’ performance within the framework of the Access to Medicine Index, Innovest has first carried out a detailed analysis of their business models (including disease focus and product pipeline). This established what can realistically be expected from companies with regards to all the criteria of the Index. It also allows us to accommodate inherent differences between companies like for example on their R&D programs. While many third party sources are used in the analyses. information from companies themselves is of vital importance. Companies are requested to fill in specific gaps in the data or clear up ambiguities in third-party figures. Companies will also be offered the chance to review Index findings before publication in order to prevent factual errors.
